fInitial Voyages fLaunched from the Copernicus shipyards in 2147 under the command of Captain Jennings, the NV-06 Republic fbegan a five year mission of exploration. Though the voyages of the Intrepid type spacecraft have been fovershadowed by the accomplishments of the NX project, the Republic was involved in establishing diplomatic frelations with species such as the Ithanites, Bolians, and Deltans during her first mission. fThe Earth-Romulan War fIn 2156, during her second five year mission, the Republic was reassigned to the United Earth Space Navy fduring the Earth-Romulan War. With Captain Danica Calhoun commanding, the Republic served with fdistinction throughout the war. The Republic played a crucial role at Galorndon Core as well as at the Battle of fTomed. fA Mission of Exploration fAfter the Battle of Cheron, the Republic was refitted and assigned to a new voyage of exploration. Under the fcommand of Captain Chandikar, the third and final five year mission of the Republic led to first contact with fthe Cardassians and Edosians. The loss of the Republic in the Antares Maelstrom in the attempt to rescue a fXindi vessel also helped to lead to an end to the animosity between the Humans and Xindi. This final voyage fof discovery earned the newly formed Federation new allies in a often-hostile galaxy.
